I’m Susan and I am a Brand Photographer based in Edinburgh and East Lothian.
I have been taking photos since the day I discovered the dark room in fifth year at school! There were loads of subjects I enjoyed and had thought about being a vet, a doctor and a midwife but deep down, I knew I wanted to do something creative. So, I headed off to art college and graduated with a degree in Fine Art Photography & Printmaking.
After that, I travelled the world, camera in hand, working and photographing everything from people to landscapes, the night sky to underwater. By 2005 settled down in Edinburgh with my husband Sam, and after working for various photographers and a big photographic company, we decided to set up on our own. Clear Photography was our little home studio on North Bridge, we were unique with our style and our approach to photography. Leaving behind the stiff, posed formality of wedding and portrait photography.
Clear Photography has evolved a lot over the years, flexing to suit our lifestyle and our growing family.
Now, with the kids at school full time we not only running Clear, but we are both focussing on our passions… Sam makes bespoke surf board fins and I love working with business owners, helping them to tell their story.
Well, that is my story… What’s Yours?
I LOVE PHOTOGRAPHY
I love using light to capture a moment in time! The process never fails to amaze me and surprise me. I love arriving at a new location and finding the best spots of light, the most interesting backdrops. I see them where ever I go… I’m always seeing, always noticing !
I AM EXPERIENCED
I have been photographing for over 20 years and have been running the business since 2005! I have photographed all manner of things all over the world – I can adapt to suit controlled studio set ups and dark dimly lit cathedrals.
I AM CREATIVE
I have an eye for detail, I am creative by nature. My honours degree is in Fine Art Photography and Printmaking and I just love things that are quirky or a bit different.
I AM PASSIONATE
I know the difference a great photo can make… I have seen first hand a business pivot by swapping a selfie for a professional business portrait. If you show that you are serious, that you are confident in yourself and your business – your ideal clients will believe it too!
